Home to around 284 people, Goodsoil is located in a forested area 78 km (48.5 mi.) west of Meadow Lake on Highway #55 and Highway #26 North. The local economy is based on forestry, natural gas, agriculture, and tourism.

The Goodsoil Historical Museum displays the early 1900's heritage of the area through early pioneer buildings, an authentic trappers shack, original one-room school house, and early farm equipment. The pioneering history of Goodsoil is also saluted in Goodsoil Gus the Lumberjack, a 20 foot high wooden roadside attraction statue of a lumberjack with a 10 foot long axe. He stands beside Highway #26 which runs through town on its way to the main entrance of Meadow Lake Provincial Park. The Park has several lakes which offer swimming, windsurfing, and fishing in clear waters. The shores of Lac des Isles on Big Island are home to the 1950 era Lady of the Lake Chapel. The Park also contains hiking and horseback riding trails, from which visitors can spot some of the rich wildlife including over 350 bird species. The outdoors are likely to work up good appetites for Goodsoil's Blueberry Festival held every August.
