Choiceland, home to around 370 people, was originally named for the rich soil found in the area. The town is located where Highway 6 meets Highway 55, around 100 km (62.1 mi.) east of Prince Albert.

Choiceland is well known for several winter sports, including curling and skating. Visitors can also enjoy the down hill ski resort, complete with snow maker and 90-metre high down-hill, about 25 km (15.5 mi.) south of town. The countryside is largely undeveloped, and is a nature enthusiasts' pleasure. Choiceland is near Little Bear Lake in Narrow Hills Provincial Park. The Narrow Hills Scenic Drive guides visitors along the park's highest ridge and includes educational signs about the area. Little Bear Lake is nestled in the northern forest and offers a campground with a boat launch and a large, sandy beach. Fishing for Lake Trout, Pike, Perch and Whitefish is popular. Narrow Hills Provincial Park has another 25 bodies of water in the area, many of which offer fishing opportunities. Wildlife viewing is also popular, with visitors spotting large mammals and a variety of birds.
